The Baileigh BG-679 heavy-duty belt grinder has powerful 4 hp motor that will take all of the abuse you can throw at it because of the 220-volt 3-phase power required to run it. This belt grinding machine’s wide 6" belt allows you to grind a large area in a short amount of time. The BG-679 is made from the highest grade components. The main drive wheel is machined out of solid billet aluminum. The front idler wheel is aluminum wrapped in polyurethane, and designed to give the best grind on the market. The BG-679 also has a top cover that opens and can be used as a flat grinding position, perfect for castings. This grinder includes a powerful vacuum motor designed to extract the metal dust before it escapes into your shop. The dust extraction system is a must-have for any abrasive belt grinder, and helps keep the machine (and your shop floor) clean from grinding debris. Baileigh covers this belt grinder with a one-year parts warranty and lifetime technical support by phone.

When it arrived it needed to be put together, which wasn't a big deal because it consisted of lifting the head of the machine, aligning the base to the head and putting a bolt in the hole and tightening it up in the position you want. After that it was all downhill. It should have been as simple as picking up the proper sized cord (4 leads and AWG size) and the correct style plug for your application. But when you turned the machine on it wouldn't stay running, it would shut down after a second or two. After calling Baileigh customer service and troubleshooting the problem, they said it was the contacts, so they sent me a replacement set of contacts within a couple of days.... Guess what? That DID NOT WORK either. Two sets of contacts faulty, I personally don't think so. But guess where the contacts were made, you guessed it, China!! For the amount of money that was paid for this machine they should be using better quality parts. They should be sourcing these components from better manufactures. At that point I was done trying to get it work (several hours later and days waiting for parts, wasted!!). I disassembled it, put it back in the crate and called for a pickup to return it. I would not recommend this machine to anyone. Poor quality and WAY OVERPRICED!!!
